Pixel Fold is Tipped to Offer a Better Display Than the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Claims New Report

Google will unveil the Pixel Fold later this year, and we hope to see a home run from Google. After all, this will be the first time the search engine giant will release a foldable, and considering how this year we are getting some really excellent foldable phones from the big names, it is an excellent time for anyone who loves this form factor. The Pixel Fold will be rivaling the likes of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and now we are hearing that the screen on Google's upcoming foldable is apparently better than what Samsung has planned for its series of foldables.

Google Pixel Fold will be using Samsung's upgraded M13 display material, making it better than its direct competition

Based on a report from a South Korean news outlet, The Elec, Samsung will supply Google with foldable displays for the Pixel Fold, which is unsurprising because we already knew that would happen. However, the more interesting part of the story suggests that the displays that the new foldable will get will be based on Samsung Display's new M13 display material.

Sadly, very little is known about this M13 material. Still, the report suggests that this is an upgraded version of the M12 found on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Samsung plans to use the same M12 for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip. This means that Pixel Fold is the only phone getting the upgraded treatment.

At the moment, we have absolutely no idea how this new M13 display material works or how the M12 works, for that matter. But knowing Samsung, we are sure that some degree of technical wizardry is involved in the new display material, making the Pixel Fold a force to be reckoned with. The report also suggests that the foldable will be released sometime in the second half of 2023. This only makes it more confusing because there have been several leaks in the past related to the release date. Our best bet is that the phone will be officially out at the Google I/O 2023 that is next month.

So far, the Pixel Fold looks like an interesting and exciting foldable from several perspectives. For the longest time, Samsung has dominated the market, and although we have had other foldable devices, this is perhaps the first time Samsung is set to have proper competition in the foldable space.
