Pixel Fold

If there is one foldable phone that can challenge Samsung's dominance over the market, it is the upcoming Pixel Fold from Google. Sure, we have seen the renders a few times in the past, but there is no concrete detail on what the foldable will be all about. Today, we have information from a reputable source about the weight and battery size of Google's upcoming foldable.

The Pixel Fold will have a larger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and will have a more natural shape

Our friends over at 9to5Google have received some information from a trusted source on Pixel Fold, and the information we have received tells us that the upcoming Google foldable will have a larger than average battery when you are talking about foldable standards.

The Pixel Fold will also be heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold 4, but this is done to ensure the phone can fit a larger battery. Sadly, the exact number has not been mentioned, but the source claims the battery will be below 5,000 mAh. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 already has a respectable 4,400 mAh battery, and while it does not match the larger sized batteries found in some other flagships, it still is more than enough for a foldable.

Below is a rough comparison showing three phones stacked on each other. The green one is the OPPO Find N2, the Pixel Fold is red, and Galaxy Z Fold 4 is blue.

The picture above shows that the Pixel Fold is broader and taller than the OPPO Find N2 and broader than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 but at the same time, shorter. So far, the look seems to be much more symmetrical, ensuring that you can easily hold the device, whether it is open or closed.

Sadly, at the time of writing, we don't know much about the upcoming Pixel Fold aside from the battery and design and the chipset that will be found in the phone. There is enough reason to suggest that Google could opt for Tensor G2 rather than going for the newly released Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. You can expect the rest of the specs to align with the Pixel 7 series.

As far as the release date is concerned, we are expecting the Pixel Fold to take form later this year. Google might release the phone alongside the Pixel 8 or formally announce it, with release slated for next year. Whatever the case is, we will keep you posted about the upcoming foldable from Google.
