In 2015, Google launched [OnHub](https://www.androidpolice.com/2015/09/07/google-onhub-review-a-200-bet-on-the-future/), a $200 router-smart home hub hybrid with an easy-to-use app to manage it. Just about a year later, it [launched Google Wifi](https://www.androidpolice.com/2016/10/04/google-asks-routers-announces-google-wifi-129/), a less expensive router that dropped some smart home features to focus on mesh networking. (Google was at least nice enough to let us [use the two together](https://www.androidpolice.com/2016/10/04/onhub-will-work-google-wifi-mesh-networks/).) It's been a long time coming, but Google's announced that it's finally [ending software support for OnHub routers](https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11257354?hl=en) next year.
