Despite a ‘Major Price Hike’ iPhone 15 Pro Models Will Start at 128GB of Base Storage But Increased 8GB of RAM

Apple will announce the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models next week on Tuesday at its 'Wonderlust' event. We have previously heard that the 'Pro' models would launch with a major price hike this time around all thanks to a new titanium build and a new camera system. It was also coined that the base storage on the 'Pro' models would be increased from 128GB to 256GB. Well, a last-minute report suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro models will stick to 128GB of base storage but increase 8GB of RAM.

In a series of reports, we have heard that Apple is planning to increase the price of the entire iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineup. The standard models would come with a minor price increase, potentially $50 for both models but the 'Pro' models would adhere to a major price hike. It was noted that the price hike could be between $100 to $200. In a new research note by TrendForce (via 9to5mac), Apple will keep the storage capacity the same for the base model while increasing the price by $100.

If the news has any heft to it, the iPhone 15 Pro could be available at $1,099 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available at $1,199. The report also mentions that Apple will stick to its 1TB storage option in contrast to the rumored 2TB storage option on the 'Pro' models. The main reason for the bump in price is the new titanium build which is more expensive than stainless steel and the new periscope camera lens in the bigger 'Pro' model.

It makes sense for the company to increase the prices as the material gets more expensive due to the ongoing inflation. Currently, Apple's 256GB option for the iPhone 14 Pro Max adds an extra $100 to the final price. What this means is that if the company does plan to increase the price of the iPhone 15 Pro models by $200, only then can it consider offering 256GB of storage capacity.

The research notes also mention that the iPhone 15 Pro models will feature an increased 8GB of RAM, a jump up from 6GB of RAM on the iPhone 14 Pro models. The extra RAM could offer better multitasking capabilities while maintaining a fluid user experience without stutters and lags. Numerous reports suggest that the price increase would be $100 instead of $200. If the company aimed to increase the price by $200, it would surely hurt demand for an 'S' year upgrade.
