Sony WF-1000XM5

Sony is the king when you are talking about true wireless earbuds or wireless over-the-ear headphones. Sony's offerings are excellent if you are looking for a replacement for your AirPod. I love the Sony WF-1000XM4 and have been a regular user of the WH series of headphones as well. Now, the Sony WF-1000XM5 has leaked in full, showing us the design, the charging case, and everything else you would want to find in a good set of earbuds.

The Sony WF-1000XM5 packs a larger battery in the case, a smaller and more compact overall design with a refreshed design

The leak comes from The Walkman Blog and showcases the Sony WF-1000XM5 from all the angles you would want to see the new earbuds from. You can see the charging case, and the earbuds themselves, along with some important information that you would want to know if you are looking forward to the latest release from Sony.

Let's look at the pictures first and then discuss what we have found.

For those who have seen the Sony WF-1000XM4, the Sony WF-1000XM5 might look a lot more familiar, and that is because it is true. However, these earbuds appear to be smaller and more compact than their predecessor. The case on these earbuds appeared to be a lot more rounded off than the previous generation earbuds, almost resembling a massive pill. However, the case now has a larger battery at 230mAh, indicating that the upcoming earbuds will generally have better battery life. The source also reveals that there is a charging indicator LED light on the front, and there is also a wireless charging coil inside the case, making the earbuds Qi-compatible.

Last but not least, the source reveals that the Sony WF-1000XM5 could stick to a single driver, but here is hoping that it is bigger than the 6mm driver found in the XM4.

Sadly, there is no word on the release date of the Sony WF-1000XM5, but it is safe that Sony could drop these any day now. One thing to note is that these are going to be upwards of $250, considering how the predecessors launched at $280, which is the price you pay for premium true-wireless earphones.
