WccftechIt has been a while since we heard something about the Galaxy S24, Samsung's future flagship, and today, we have come across some news that a lot of people might not like. Past rumors have indicated that Samsung will be ditching the two zoom sensors and will be going for a single sensor with variable zoom, but a new tip suggests that it might not happen after all.
The Galaxy S24 doesn't need variable zoom as much as it needs variable aperture, and I hope Samsung doesn't abandon that
Based on the tweet from renowned tipster @Tech_Reve, Samsung has canceled the plans to go with the variable zoom with the Galaxy S24 and decided to stick with the same four-sensor layout we have seen on the Galaxy S flagship devices.
As for why Samsung has decided to go with the same old camera configuration for the Galaxy S24 series, we are not sure. If this is true, the company will have to work hard to ensure that the rest of the phone receives enough upgrades because if you are not getting a good camera, something else has to be really stellar.
The Galaxy S24 series will comprise of three phones. The base variant and the plus variant could ship with the Exynos 2400 in certain regions, whereas the ultra variant will be using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in all regions.
At the moment, there is nothing concrete that we can confirm about the Galaxy S24 series. Compared to its predecessors, I can confirm that the Galaxy S23 series was a bit underwhelming. This means that Samsung absolutely needs a win, or the company will have another product that underdelivers and costs a good chunk of money.
In the coming months, we are bound to hear a lot more about what Samsung is going to do with the Galaxy S24 series. I did not upgrade this year, hoping that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is a worthy successor. I look forward to seeing significant improvements, especially to the camera, since I am already happy with the design. I am not really worried about variable zoom being taken away, but I do hope Samsung does bring the variable aperture because that has also been in the rumor mill for some time.
