Pixel Fold

After a year of leaks and rumors, we are a lot closer to Pixel Fold. The phone is finally going to be revealed at Google I/O 2023, and today, we have a full list of specs, price, and every other information that you could want thanks to Jon Prosser from Front Page Tech, and honestly, some of you might be disappointed.

The Pixel Fold will cost you $1,799 for the base variant or $1,919 with upgraded storage, last year's Tensor G2, and a generic camera system

For starters, the first thing Prosser revealed was the price, and he has confirmed that the Pixel Fold is going to retail for $1,799. The phone will be available in Chalk and Obsidian. However, if you want the 512GB version instead of the base 256GB variant, you will have to spend $1,919; for that, you will only get Obsidian as the available color. I understand that this might look like a hit to everyone's wallet, but the good news is that Pixel Watch will be free for everyone who preorders the device, something that we confirmed a couple of days ago.

As suggested, the Google Pixel Fold will go on preorder on May 10th, with shipping starting from June 27. Carriers and partners will start pre-orders on 30th May.

Circling back to the specs, you are looking at the Pixel Fold coming with last year's Tensor G2 chipset with Titan M2 security chip. You will also get 12 gigs of LPDDR5 RAM, and the storage models are already confirmed. Both storage models will be in UFS 3.1 instead of the faster offering many other companies have been delivering.

Moving onto the dimensions, you are looking at a hefty device at 283 grams. When folded, the device measures 5.5 height x 3.1 width x 0.5 depth (inches); however, we do not know the dimensions once the device is unfolded.

The external display of the Pixel Fold will deliver a 17.4:9 aspect ratio and measure 5.8 inches. You are getting an FHD+ OLED panel with 2098x1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The internal display is a 7.6-inch display with a 6:5 aspect ratio with 2208x1840 pixels resolution, OLED panel, and 120Hz refresh rate. It is safe to say that the inner display has a rather odd aspect ratio.

Coming to the optics, the Pixel Fold is going to bring a 48-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and a 1/2-inch sensor. You are also getting a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical and 20x digital zoom. The ultra-wide camera also offers 10.8-megapixel. On the front, you will get a 9.5-megapixel selfie camera, and on the inner screen, you will get an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
