GoPro HERO10 Black Leak Hints at Improved Image Quality

New leaks from the German website WinFuture suggest that GoPro’s next camera, the HERO10 Black, will offer improved image quality and stabilization. Renders and specs for the camera show that it’s not a major upgrade over its predecessor, though.

The biggest change in the GoPro HERO10 Black is its new GP2 processor, which should provide a noticeable performance boost with support for 5.3K videos at 60FPS (up from 30FPS) and 4K video at 120FPS. For those who love slo-mo video, the HERO10 Black should also support 2.7K video at 240FPS.

A new 23MP image sensor also replaces the old 20MP sensor, according to product packaging leaked by WinFuture. This new sensor should improve still photography and could boost video quality in low-light settings, though megapixels don’t always translate to real-world improvements, so you should take these claims with a grain of salt.

It seems that the GoPro HERO10 Black will also offer improved software stabilization through its new HyperSmooth 4.0 and TimeWarp 3.0 (time-lapse) technology. But until we see this tech in action, we don’t know if it’s all that different from GoPro’s current stabilization software.

Leaks from WinFuture are generally reliable—not only did it successfully leak the new Galaxy Watch 4 and Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches, but it leaked a ton of GoPro HERO9 Black renders back in 2020.

If this new GoPro HERO10 Black leak is accurate, then we should expect an official announcement from GoPro in the coming weeks. Pricing is still a mystery, but for what it’s worth, the GoPro HERO9 Black currently starts at $400.
