One of the latest trends in keyboards in the developer’s community has been the keyboards with blank keycaps. You will rarely see them in the wild, but once you do they will keep your eyes on them. I’ve bought one of those to learn to touch-type 2 years ago, I told the story in my article on my website. But being a mechanical keyboards enthusiast, I wanted to share some of the best keyboards with blank keycaps on the market, so you can join the crew.
First of all, they may seem silly at first look but there are some positive views on them. The main thing about them is that you will be forced to touch-type and learn it properly, and that is a very healthy thing to do for your wrists. No other keyboard will teach you to type properly like them. Besides the healthy side, they will make look cool and more hackerish in your office! There are also some downsides you should consider before purchasing one of these, you will almost always need to have your both hands on the keyboard, typing with only one is tricky. Also typing passwords at the begging can be tricky until you get more comfortable with your typing skills.

This keyboard is featuring 60 keys layout and a very solid built quality. A very important difference from all other keyboards are switches, HHKB is using Topre switches which are superior in durability and feel over Cherry MX switches. I’ve been personally using this keyboard for the last 2 years and never looked back. Available in Black or White, and a more silent version Type-S.
Filco Ninja Majestouch-2
Another big name in the keyboards industry is Filco know for quality and design, which in this keyboard Ninja Majestouch-2, Filco did an interesting approach to the blank keycaps. Moving the letters from the top to the bottom of the key, where technically you get the best of both worlds. Ideal for someone who’s not sure about going full blank at the moment. The keyboard its self is very well built as you would expect from Filco, featuring a ten-keyless layout and full spectrum of MX Switches: Blue, Brown, Black, Red.
LessonBoard Pro is ideal for typist learners! Marking blank only the letters and no special characters, it is perfect to start learning touch-typing without spending too much on professional keyboards like the ones above.
